  1. The whole album has a clear, crisp sound, and a new sheen of consummate professionalism that really gives the songs a big boost. He's been compared to Elvis Costello, but I think Huey has a far more bitter, cynical sense of humor. In '87, Huey released this, Fore, their most accomplished album/5().

  5. You like Huey Lewis and the News? Their early work was a little too new wave for my taste, but when Sports came out in '83, I think they really came into their own, commercially and artistically. The whole album has a clear, crisp sound, and a new sheen of consummate professionalism that really gives the songs a big boost.
  6. Sports was one of the rare mainstream pop/rock albums where everything worked -- the songs were catchy, the sound was inviting, and it all sounded perfect on the radio. It would have been tough for Huey Lewis and the News to match its quality with the follow-up, Fore!, and it comes as little surprise that Fore! suffers from an overdose of the very things that made Sports nearly 6/
  7. WHOLE LOTTA LOVIN’ (J. Colla/H. Lewis) I’m tired of these girlie magazines I want to stop dreamin’ And get back home to the real thing Late last night I read the letter you sent Woke up this morning under a tent Uh huh, we’ve got a whole lotta lovin’ to do My mini bar’s empty But I’m still alive I’m all alone but my bed’s big.
  8. The main character Patrick Bateman, while talking to one of his potential victims, gives a review of the album, discussing the band's viewpoint, intent, and how specifically the song "Hip to Be Square" espouses "the pleasures of conformity" but with a catchy s beat, going on to state it is "the group's most accomplished album".
